چکیده

J-Y. Park, M. Garwood Center for Magnetic Resonance Research and Department of Radiology, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, United States Synopsis: Frequency-swept pulses, like the hyperbolic secant (HS1) pulse, are not typically employed for excitation in MRI. When used for excitation in gradient-echo imaging, the HS1 pulse does not produce a proper echo because the magnetization phase varies quadratically in space. Here, the phase profiles of HS1 are described analytically. It is shown that HS1 produces a “pseudo-echo” when used for excitation in a gradient-echo sequence. An image reconstruction method is developed to allow 3D pseudo-echo imaging using a sliding window function. This method makes it possible to take full advantage of HS1 for slab-selective 3D MR

Stimulated Echoes: Description. Applications. Practical Hints

Stimulated echoes are formed from three or more radio frequency pulses. Pulse sequences that use stimulated echoes are extremely versatile because of the availability of three pulses for timing variations and for encoding spatial or chemical shift information. This paper concentrates on the uses of stimulated echoes and on techniques for obtaining them reliably and reproducibly. (Through this u...

Bistatic Sonar Cross-Sections and Time-Frequency Signatures of Simple Targets Insonified by an Acoustic Pulse

Target identification is one of the main goals for processing echoes returned by various underwater structures. The conventional way to process sonar echoes is to analyze them in the frequency domain or in the time domain. A third, more recent and seemingly more advantageous way is to use schemes in the combined time-frequency domain. We show the effect of using a pseudo-Wigner distribution (PW...

An investigation into the effect of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) echo time spacing and number of echoes on the sensitivity and dose resolution of PAGATUG polymer-gel dosimeter

Background: There are various methods to read out responses of a polymer-gel dosimeter, among which the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technique is the most common one. Optimizing imaging protocols can have significant effect on the sensitivity and the dose resolution of polymer gel dosimeters. This study has investigated the effects of the number of echoes (NOE) and the echo time spacing (ES...

ISAR Imaging Based on the Wideband Hyperbolic Frequency-Modulation Waveform

The hyperbolic frequency-modulated (HFM) waveform has an inherent Doppler-invariant property. It is more conducive than the conventional linear frequency-modulated (LFM) waveform to high speed moving target imaging. In order to apply the HFM waveform to existing inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging systems, a new pulse compression algorithm is proposed. First, the received HFM echoes...
